Chicago - Renowned Chicago restaurant Alinea has been named the best restaurant in the country.
Chef Grant Achatz’s restaurant was also named seventh on a list of the best restaurants in the world. Alinea offers unique tasting “menus” with items like crab with rhubarb, jasmine and fennel, and ‘transparency of raspberry, yogurt.”
Diners describe Alinea as a distinctive foodie experience. A meal — which is really more like a gastronomic journey — can cost $150.
Noma in Denmark came in as number one.
El Bulli of Spain fell to number two, after being ranked the best restaurant in the world for the past four years.
The Fat Duck in England came in third.
Overall, eight U.S. restaurants made the list, the most of any country.
